Teaching is very important to us. That is why the University of Vienna honors outstanding achievements and provides a platform for successful teaching. The Teaching Award is presented annually to outstanding courses offered by the participating faculties respectively.

How to nominate a teacher
Students, students' representatives, tutors, teachers and office-holders can nominate courses that they consider to be of outstanding quality.
For the nomination please read the CeMESS Teaching Award criteria and fill out the submission form.

Prior Achievements at CeMESS
During the last call of 2024, Michael Zumstein was recognized for his outstanding contributions to teaching in the course “Towards Zero Pollution: Environmental Biotransformation of Organic Chemicals.” The Univie Teaching Awards remind us how powerful great teaching can be, and we’re proud to continue sharing the innovations that earned this honor.
The award was presented by Thilo Hofmann, Deputy Head of CeMESS, on behalf of Christa Schnabl, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, and Andreas Richter, Centre Head of CeMESS.
