Start of CeMESS Lecture Series – summer 2023 edition

The CeMESS Lecture Series started with a talk by Shaul Pollak on “Combining machine-learning, ecological theory, and experiments to study bacterial interactions across scales”. Shaul joined DOME as a Junior Research Group Leader in January. Five more talks by renowned international researchers are scheduled for the upcoming months covering topics of all four divisions at CeMESS.

On Thursday, April 13th, Matthias Fischer from the MPI for Medical Research in Heidelberg (Germany) will discuss the “Diversity and ecological interactions of giant viruses”. The CeMESS lectures aim at motivating researchers at the Centre to look beyond the boundaries of their division more intensively. They provide all attendees with new perspectives on their own research and with insights into current issues of the neighbouring research fields. All presentations take place on Thursdays and start at 12 pm (noon). They are presented in a hybrid setting on-site (HS 2 UBB) and via Zoom. Exceptions are marked accordingly. Researchers from outside CeMESS are also cordially invited to attend and, in case of virtual participation, may request the ZOOM link via email from .
