Thorsten Hüffer receives society medal from the German Water Chemistry Society

Thorsten Hüffer, Senior Scientist at EDGE, was awarded the societal medal from the Society for Water Chemistry, division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). The award was granted during the annual meeting for his special scientific achievements in a field of water chemistry. The society's prize is awarded once a year for outstanding work and services to water chemistry.

Thorsten was awarded for his extensive work on polymer-based particles in aqueous systems. His research ranges from fundamental work on the definition of plastic in the environment to the use of innovative machine learning methods. Especially for the understanding of the interactions between organic xenobiotics and microscale plastic particles in aquatic and terrestrial systems, Thorsten achieved pioneering results. With his internationally recognized studies, water chemistry research was given important new impulses.

Congratulations, Thorsten!
