In her pitch presentation entitled “Breaking the Wall of Antibiotic Resistance Crisis” she offered the audience and jury a glimpse of her search for new antimicrobial compounds in microbial communities from the Antarctic. On November 7, at the final in Berlin, she will again be given just three minutes to convince the jury of the innovative potential of her research.

Stanislava Králová is a Maria Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellow in the research group of Alexander Loy at our Centre. The aim of her research in the context of the MSCA fellowship, which she started in January 2022, is to explore defined microbial communities from a large collection of Antarctic soil isolates as potential sources of novel antimicrobial compounds. As such, her research addresses one of the greatest current societal crises, the antibiotic resistance crisis.

The Falling Walls Lab competition aims to provide a stage for innovative, ground-breaking research from different research disciplines. The national selection rounds - for which researchers can apply regardless of their nationality and regardless of where they work - and the international final round in Berlin offer researchers the chance to network with each other and with industry.
