We are hiring: Full Professor of Soil Ecosystems and Global Change

Soil ecosystems form the foundation of planetary health and play a critical role in climate feedback mechanisms. However, they are also vulnerable to the impacts of global change.

The Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS) at the University of Vienna invites applications for the position of Full Professor of Soil Ecosystems and Global Change. We seek an outstanding researcher investigating the structural and functional dynamics of soil ecosystems, with a particular focus on the role of soil microorganisms in ecosystem processes under future climate scenarios. This includes studying microbially mediated processes and the mechanisms driving interactions among microbes, as well as their relationships with the biotic and physicochemical environment.

This professorship is based in the Division of Terrestrial Ecosystem Research and embedded within CeMESS, which integrates terrestrial ecosystem science with microbiome science, computational systems biology, and environmental pollution studies. Active collaboration across these areas is expected.
