IT Technician

We are looking for a committed personality who is highly responsible, motivated and independent to take care of all IT administration agendas at the centre. You will work in close co-operation with the Central IT Service of the University of Vienna and be the interface for the implementation of central services at the working groups.

The Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science at the University of Vienna currently consists of 21 research groups with around 250 employees in research, teaching and administration. We share the vision of conducting excellent basic research on socially relevant topics at the highest international level.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an IT Coordinator at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science:

  • Scope of employment: 20 hours/week 
  • Fixed term: 9 months. Subsequently, the employment relationship is to be terminated by mutual agreement. 
  • Classification according to collective agreement: Classification according to §54 VwGr. IIIb (basic level EUR 2958.9 on a full-time basis). In addition, your creditable professional experience determines the actual salary.
  • Start date: From 1 July 2024

We are a research centre with internationally renowned scientists that conducts basic research in the field of environment and medicine at the highest level and with high social relevance.

Good German and English language skills are required for this position

 

Your tasks:

  • Organisation of IT at the centre 
  • Support and supervision of all working groups with several hundred computers at two different locations (office, laboratory, HPC) 
  • Optimisation of all IT processes
  • Remote maintenance and loading 
  • Data storage and backup 
  • Messaging
  • Intranet and Internet presence
  • Procurement of the centre's IT infrastructure via centralised and decentralised procurement systems

 

 

You have what it takes: 

  • You have a degree from a relevant secondary school or a relevant degree programme
  • You have professional experience and excellent knowledge of IT coordination, IT administration and organisation, services, databases, procurement, intranet and web services.
  • You have good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (C1) 
  • Enjoy working in an international, scientific environment
